After reading Haute Night’s article entitled “I Don’t Usually Do This” (Read It Here). I decided that he made some good points but seemed to be confused about a few things. So for my first post I wanted to take the time to offer a woman’s point of view on the topic.
This might actually be the oldest trick in the book. Guys say it to girls to make the girl feel special — Girls say it to guys to avoid the shame they’ll feel the morning after. If a girl says “I Don’t Usually Do This”; she’s either telling the truth OR she likes you enough to lie in hopes that you’ll respect her. Yeah, kind of an odd situation – respect the girl who isn’t respecting herself. Oh well.
Obviously it’s hard to believe anyone who says this, considering they’re saying that they don’t usually do what they’re about to do, but let’s face it – guys and girls alike can easily be convinced to do things they wouldn’t normally do.
From a girl’s point of view, we all want the same thing: to find a nice guy who will sweep us off our feet and make us feel special (not sure why anyone believes they’ll find this in nightlife but I can’t knock those who try). Now, combine that romantic hope with a few vodka-crans, music pumping in the background, and a “charming” guy whispering in your ear. DONE! The girl is definitely hooked, wrapped up in his spell, and about to forget all of her morals. She’s going to do whatever she needs to do to impress this guy that she’s just fallen head over heels for.
Basically, the girl “usually doesn’t do this” but thinks if she makes this one exception then she’ll wake up in the morning with a new boyfriend. Once she sees that this isn’t the case… she most likely “won’t do this” ever again.
Hey, we’re all adults – to each is own.
As for the guys, it’s usually obvious whether or not a girl “usually does this”. To the guys who try to use this line on us… we know you’re lying
