For decades, hospitality groups have been trying to bring Las Vegas to Atlantic City. Most have failed miserably. For the longest time, Harrah’s Resort’s The Pool After Dark was the only real venue to ever offer decent nightlife to AC-partygoers.
It wasn’t until late-March and early-April that I started hearing and seeing TV commercials about a new resort and casino scheduled to open in Atlantic City mid-summer of 2012. Revel is supposed to introduce the Vegas-style of revelry to Atlantic City.
Lately, partygoers within the NYC-nightlife community have been buzzing and asking a lot of questions about HQ Nightclub within Revel. So, I reached out to Jefferson Agar at Angel Management Group to give us a taste of the direction they want to take their new venue.
Jefferson Agar: My title is Lead Executive Marketing Host. I help manage a team of 15 marketing hosts whose job is to bring in bottle clients into the club and market HQ Beach Club & Nightclub. I’m also in charge on the Manhattan office’s customer development deals.
HN: One thing that’s intriguing about HQ is AMG’s goal to introduce what most nightclubs and hotel/resorts have failed to do in Atlantic City, the Vegas-fun-factor. Can you tell me how you guys are doing this?
What sets you guys apart from Mur Mur, Mixx, Poolside After Dark, Dusk, and all those other nightlife venues in Atlantic City?
JA: The revel hotel was built to provide Atlantic City-goers with the Vegas experience – from our pools to the clubs to our 5-star restaurants. We build an experience so great that you won’t ever want to leave the hotel for anything. We also have a real Vegas operating team and a New York-based group (EMM) who run and operate the clubs. Atlantic City has never had that before. That’s the difference.
HN: I’ve been looking at your resident DJs line-up and I’m pretty excited with what I am seeing: Manufactured Superstars, Calvin Harris, Dirty South, A-Trak, DJ Chuckie, Dada Life, Avicii, Cedric Gervais, and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano… I feel like that list just goes on forever. How did you guys manage to lock down such a superstar line up?
JA: Angel Management Group was founded on great music. Our relationship with these great DJs is what separates AMG from everyone else.
HN: My sources tell me that AMG brought in New York City’s EMM Group’s as partners to launch HQ Nightclub. From the line up of venues AMG already operates, it seems like you could handle HQ on your own. What made you decide to bring in EMM Group?
JA: Manhattan is very important to the success of HQ and also the success of Revel. EMM Group knows Manhattan and brings the NYC vibe that is needed in AC. EMM has some of the best nightclub/ lounges and top restaurants in NYC. It’s a perfect marriage.
HN: I see you guys have Tommy Trash headlining on Friday and Avicii being the main event this weekend at HQ Nightclub? You guys must be expecting a crazy turnout for this weekend! How much does admission go for at the door for weekends like this? Tables?
JA: We expect a very large turnout. Avicii is already sold out! Tables for an event like Avicii start at $3k and up. Tommy trash on Friday is going to be great as well. Friday general admission prices are still the same as a normal Friday ($30 for guys and $20 for ladies).
HN: Awesome, well we wish you guys the best! Thanks for your time Jefferson.
JA: Thank you, bud.
